eleven two

alright.

i'm not going to judge you - at least for the next 5 minutes.

look, i know you've heard it a million times, but i'm going to have to tell you again: you need to VOTE. i should've blogged at least a few days ago for those few truly shameful apathetics who never even took the time to register, but now that it's too late, i am going to aim this toward the rest of you who think it doesn't matter. i'm hoping to hit the bulls eye, at least amongst one of you.

maybe you've never been denied healthcare or had to fight in a war; maybe your parents have never lost their jobs; and maybe, just maybe, you've never had to pay a dime for college. if you're one of these people, you're most likely one of the top 5% of wealthy americans, and congratufuckinglations to you. seriously - i not trying to make you feel bad about it. i'd be living the high life too... sex and the city, quite literally.

but think about it. if that's the top 5%, the bottom 95% is quite obviously facing a life less convenient. in the past 4 years, jobs have been cut at an unparalleled rate, healthcare costs have gone up, and we've entered into a holy war with a country that never even attacked us. and let's not forget about the "inalienable rights" that have been or are currently being stripped from citizens of our society. after 9/11, a jittery congress was quick to sign the patriot act, allowing the government full access to conduct surveillance and gather intelligence on anyone that looked "suspicious" or more honestly, anyone who looked muslim. but if you're gay, now that requires a constitutional amendment. somehow, the leaders of our country believe gay marriage is too sacred - it's just less meaningful between two men or two women. i mean, look at britney spears' 55-hour marriage...

look. listen. read for your sake (not christ's). don't give me that bullshit that you just don't know because that is your responsibility. you have every resource available to you and every opportunity to do something about it. stop taking advantage of a privilege most people in this world do not have. get out there, pick a damn side, and VOTE.
