what's in a name?

we brownies have been searching, waiting for a film that accurately depicts our culture, our experience, and our identity as 1st and 2nd generation indian-americans. thankfully, mira nair used a storyline that already did it and recreated the namesake on screen.

i saw this trailor as a preview to 'water' last summer and thought i would share it with you. the book is marvelous, and i urge you to read it. i can happily report, however, that if you don't read the book, the movie should follow the storyline pretty closely. it's reviews at the london film festival were extraordinary and i can't wait for it to debut in the states.

Ooh when does that come out?

PS the lady in the library or whatever, who said "Maybe its a boy" is Dr. Hahn from Grey's Anatomy. I'm a nerd.

it's weird because the father looks how my dad used to look when he first moved to the States. It's a bit bizarre.

Evidently, you are a giant scholarship winner.

And a tease, but mostly a scholarship winner. When are you taking me out to dinner? And don't tease. I know your game.
