ah yes. there's nothing more refreshing than a nice, lukewarm bath in the pouring may rain. actually...no. you see, a few days ago, a bum (say the police) walked into my house and stole my purse. he/she then proceeded to take all my money while leaving my wallet in a friendly ann arborite's mailbox for the postal carrier to find on route a few days later. of course, the post office graciously called to tell me they had my wallet and were awaiting my arrival. so today, for the first time in a long time, i took my housemate's bike and rode across town - all the WAY across town - to get my wallet. the pavement was cracked everywhere. the riding was never flat. and oh yeah. p.s. it rained. a lot.
now don't get me wrong. i'm not complaining, but i never expected it to rain that much or for me to be splashed by a buckets of water every single time a car drove by. by the time i got to the post office, i wasn't dripping like a facet; i was pouring like one. thankfully though, although i was thoroughly wet, i wasn't cold and thought it was about the funniest thing i had ever done. it was oddly invigorating, like getting caught in the rain walking with a good friend... except that good friend this time was me. if you can't laugh at yourself, what can you laugh at, right? right.
anyhow, i was really tired riding that far. it was fun(nny) as hell but riding back would've killed me. so i called a million friends and almost gave up hope. i unlocked the bike and almost biked back home until i decided to call scott who by some stroke of luck ended up being home and able to give me a ride back. when he got to the the post office he looked at me and said, "i almost thought i was lost this place is so far. damn avani." i know. damn avani. what the hell? nevertheless, i think it's something i'll smile about for some time to come... one of those silly little events that makes college and summer and life memorable.
and one more thing. i think i need to take more walks...
in the rain.
